(Event July 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 & 25)

Roses Turn, a short play by Kymberly Harris was a Samuel French short play festival finalist and strawberry festival finalist, both performed off Broadway in NYC. Set in NYC, a young married couple Franny and Geoff Weatherbee, are enjoying the fruits of his post graduation Wall Street job, when Franny starts feeling the pangs of guilt as she passes a homeless woman on her way to her art history classes each day. Despite her husband wishes, Franny invites Rose, this homeless woman, into their home, and their lives. Roses Turn by Kymberly Harris is a play that begs the question, who are our homeless population, and how are we addressing homelessness in our country. Performances are July 10, 11, 17,18, 24, and 25th at 8pm, with a special free performance for practitioners and volunteers for the homeless on Thursday July 16th at 8pm followed by a Q &A. Roses Turn will be coupled with Zen Master Hobo, an original short play by Jason A. Vales . The story centers on Raven, a young man who is homeless and living on the streets of San Francisco. While searching desperately for food, Raven encounters, Black Bear, a strange, but wise older man who carries a secret along with him, becomes a teacher to Raven and leads him down the path of enlightenment. On the way, he meets a group of others just like him and at Black Bear’s request, reaches out to them and becomes their teacher. Join us for an evening of entertainment that is thought provoking, socially conscious, and an opportunity to help the homeless while watching live theatre. All shows are at TheatresCool, 403 N. Main Street, Bloomington. For reservations call 309-454-5892. Tickets are $15 , for adults, $8 for students, $3 of each ticket will be donated to Safe Horizons Homeless Shelter. www.TheatresCool.com.

Their first album, "Diplomat", was released this past February by The Path Less Traveled Records. Oh, Alchemy will be joined by special guest Christopher Pond, who recently released his new album "Color Scheme". TheatresCool is located at 403 N. Main Street in downtown Bloomington.

We've decided to ask several musicians to help me create a monthly variety show to be put on locally. It's only musical variety at this point, but it's diverse and interesting and full of talented and engaging performers.
To get things started, the inaugural show is set for February 27th, at 8:00 p.m. at TheatresCool, located at 403 N. Main, Bloomington.
Here is the roster of performers:
Steve Harris
Steve grew up in England during the formative years of punk, new wave, and the alternative rock scene. He played in several bands with his brother Stuart – and they have continued this collaboration across the Atlantic Ocean over the last 2 decades. The HARRIS BROTHERS released their first album "…the turning of the wheel…" in 2006, and plan to release their second album "…the balance of our days…" in mid-2009. Songs informed by personal experiences and the wonder of the natural world – textured with an array of musical influences - characterize the HARRIS BROTHERS material.
J Balmer
Blues with an attitude & progressive rock of a questionable nature.
Private Stock featuring Ronnie Jones
Private Stock featuring Ronnie Jones delivers the Blues with an occasional twist of Jazz. Sit back and enjoy the velvet voice of Ronnie Jones, partnered with the talents of Bruce Lane on keys, Greg Beneze on guitar, Steve Harris on bass, and Jim Lauher on drums.
Phil Shaw & Dave Shields
This unique duo will offer up some great music from another era featuring Phil's incomperable voice and Dave's passionate and lively piano playing. The perfect dessert for the evening's musical meal.
David Davenport & the DD Trio
David is short, squat, and cranky. Gary is a dignified biker. Pax is from Midland. We've never met a little peace and quiet we weren't willing to upset

THE OTHELLO SYNDROME OPENS TOMORROW AT THEATRESCOOL!
In “The Othello Syndrome,” two strangers meet for the first time. Their interaction reflects the views of prejudice that every human being has encountered in their lives. The two dare to speak their minds and say what most of us are afraid to say, even though we may think it. Throughout the play, the audience is given a glimpse into the lives of the two strangers in the midst of a national tragedy and we see what makes them who they are and perhaps a glimpse of who we are.
The production, produced by Treefinger Productions, in association with Theatrescool, written and directed by Jason A. Vales, features actors Jason Davis, Rana Kunkar, Bridgette Richards and Nathan Bottorff.
Performances will be at Theatrescool (403 N. Main Street in downtown Bloomingon) on November 1st, 7th, 8th and 14th at 8pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets may be reserved by calling (309) 242-4827. Advance reservations are strongly recommended as seating is limited. This production contains adult themes and language.

CHICAGO FARMER RESIDENCY!
Tonight, and for the next two Wednesdays, Chicago Farmer (Cody Diekhoff) will be playing at TheatresCool (403 N. Main St. in Bloomington) from 9:00-10:30pm. Come out and support a talented musician from central Illinois.
From the Chicago Farmer website: Cody's voice is powerful and gritty, emotionally piercing while subtly imbuing additional layers of meaning and poignancy in his lyrical delivery. His song-writing is deeply rooted in the American Folk tradition and all of its grit but with a post Dylan sense of wit, perspicacity and that certain savior-faire.

TheatresCool was recently featured in local college newspaper, The Daily Vidette. The article has some great information about the school and some great pictures as well.
From the article: "It's the only school in the Midwest that offers method acting," Harris said. "We try to stay current and contemporary. We're the kind of space that you would find in Chicago or New York, we're not a typical small-town theater. The quality and the standards are very high." Read the rest at The Daily Vidette website.
